Healing Waters

She sent me a collection of photos of her beloved horse, Thunder, hoping to preserve his memory. Among them, this image immediately spoke to me.. a quiet moment of connection between them in their pond, the healing waters. After a long and heavy week with family matters, she went there seeking peace. Thunder, though blind in one eye, followed her.. sensing her sorrow and meeting her exactly where she was.

Thunder lived a full life and passed on August 22, 2025, at 30 years old.

The original photo of Christy and Thunder in the pond was captured by her husband.

I’ve spent hours simply being with this painting.. staring, crying, and feeling its immense peace after so much pain. The contrast between suffering and serenity runs deep here. Though I didn’t know every detail of her story, the painting itself carried her emotion through me. I am amazed of how each painting requires me to feel, especially this one.

These are limited-edition fine art reproductions of my commissioned painting “Healing Waters.” Every painted edition is hand-embellished by me with real paint and texture, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. Unpainted editions are also available for collectors who prefer a traditional fine art print.
