This painting came from a realization that’s been living quietly in my body for most of my life.

I’ve always felt… different.

Not in a way I knew how to explain.

And not in a way I felt safe naming out loud.

So I learned to keep up.

To be “normal.”

To carry it quietly.

Over time, that unspoken tension found its way into my body, especially through my cycle. My periods were painful, heavy, and overwhelming for years. The kind of pain that makes you feel like something is wrong, even when you don’t have the language for it yet.

This piece is about breaking a cycle that is personal, physical, ancestral.

It’s about listening instead of pushing.

Softening instead of bracing. 

Welcome Home is a return to the body as a safe place. A place where feelings are allowed. A place where healing doesn’t have to be hard. A place where being different isn’t something to fix, but something to honor.

Through natural forms of healing like vibrational sound, plant medicine, energy, rest. I’ve learned my cycle instead of fighting it. And in doing so, I found myself again.

This painting is a baptism of sorts.

A homecoming.

To myself.

To my body.

To the woman I am today.

My body was never wrong. It was trying to bring me home.
